The Christian Leadership Training Institute was established in 1996 for the purpose of enabling churches to develop leadership through extension classes, seminars, and resource materials for leadership development.
The Institute is the result of an ad-hock committee made up of five African leaders from Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and two missionaries. The committee was appointed by Christian Church missionaries serving in the western regions of Africa. The committee was commissioned to discover what was needed to enable the churches to grow. The committee met regularly for five years to investigate and make plans. They launched the Christian Leadership Training Institute in 1996.
The Institute is registered as a not-for-profit corporation in Ghana. The central office is located at Amrahia near Accra. The Institute supervises Theological Education by Extension classes in four nations: Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia. It publishes course materials for the extension classes, Bible Study guides, Train & Multiply mentoring materials and other resources for leadership development.
The institute does not conduct resident classes. All training is through extension courses which are taught by local leaders and supervised by our staff. We have over 40 extension classes and over 300 students at any given time. Thousands have completed extension courses. Hundreds have completed requirements for certificates and vocational diplomas in our curriculum of 18 courses.
Every year, Leadership Development Seminars are held in regions where we have extension classes. Women Enrichment Seminars are held throughout Ghana. Resource materials for Bible study, materials for mentoring leaders and informative tracts are available through our central office.
